Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes do not fall within the scope of any individual medical specialty. As a result, very little is known about these heritable connective tissue disorders as compared with other comparably prevalent diseases and syndromes. The Neuromuscular and Musculoskeletal consequences of heritable connective tissue disorders lead patients to most commonly present to providers trained in Neurology, Rheumatology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, Physical Therapy, and Primary Care including Emergency Medicine. Presently, no organization has a primary focus of outreach and research to Physicians and other providers in these fields with regard to Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
